| History | Established in 1954, the Whittier Presbyterian Church
Preschool has been is existence for 46 years, providing a
quality morning enrichment program. We offer nursery education in a
loving environment and provide an opportunity for constructive growth,
physically, intellectually, emotionally and socially. We run from
9:00 A.M. to Noon, Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We currently have
only the 3-day program available.
Extended care, 7:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. is now available. Call for details. |
| Goals | Our goals are two-fold, one for the child and one for the
parents.
For the child: To strive for understanding of each individual child and his own special needs: To stimulate the interest of children by providing a variety of experiences with nature, science, art, music, literature, and development of manipulative skills and body coordination. To encourage children to become independent and develop an appreciation for the rights and needs of others and to help each child develop an awareness of him/herself and confidence in their abilities. For the parent: To help parents better understand their child's development and aid them in their role as parents. |
| Admission Policy and License | The school is non-sectarian and is open to children without
discrimination on the basis of race, religion. sex or ethnic origin.
All children are enrolled on a temporary trial basis for a period of two weeks to determine whether or not the school can meet the needs of a particular child. Our goal is social integration of each child with the rest of the class. Should a child present problems, the teachers will work with that child and the parents to remedy whatever the difficulties might be. If at any time the behavior of any child becomes detrimental to the health and safety of him/herself or others, or is a continuing problem to the ongoing program of the school, the school will request his/her removal. The school is licensed by the State of California Department of health for children 2 1/2 to 5 years of age. The school license is for 60 children per day and we are not allowed to have any other children in school except those that re on the regular enrollment list. |
| Staff | One of the highlights of our school is its staff. there are a dedicated group of women who are committed to the early childhood education of our children. |
| Registration | Applications will be accepted for enrollment following an
interview with the director. The parent will bring the child to see
the school and the parent will then talk with the director about the
levels of growth and maturity of the child.
An annual registration fee of $55.00 is due to be paid at the time of enrollment. A lesser charge will be made for a second child enrolled. The registration fee includes insurance for your child and is non-refundable. An annual materials fee of $20.00 is due upon enrollment and in non-refundable. |
