One of the most popular education programs at our church in many years has been the "Wednesday at the Movies" program. Each week, we study the scripture text to be used for the sermon on the following Sunday, then view part of a movie and discuss it. We reflect upon the faith issues raised in the movie.
Here are the movies we have used for this program
"Places in the Heart”
“Jakob the Liar”
“Chocolat”
“K-Pax”
“Friendly Persuasion”
“The Best Years of Our Lives”
“Retreat” from the Spiritual Cinema Circle
Fall 2004 Wednesday at the Movies meets for six sessions (an added session for the length of this particular movie) on Wednesdays, Sept. 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20 and Nov. 3 & 10. Sessions are at 10:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M. Join us for a stimulating discussion around a great movie, the classic 1946 movie, “The Best Years of Our Lives.”
Beginning March 12, 2003 and running for 5 weeks, we will be presenting "Lenten Wednesday at the Movies." We will discuss the scriptures for the following Sunday, then watch portions of the movie "Chocolat" and then discuss it and its spiritual implications.
The program will last 60-90 minutes, depending on how much discussion we generate and will meet twice each Wednesday during Lent, at 10:00 A.M. and 7:30 P.M.
More information will be added to this page in the days to come and will be announced in worship on Sunday mornings. We hope to see you there. If you miss a class, you can click on the link below and find the discussion questions etc. from that class.
