A church with a heart for our community

Daily Bread:

Strength for the Journey

Series I    Scriptures for Prayer and Reflection

When you pray then, pray like this —

“Our Father who art in heaven”

Focus: Father, covenant, bread

Read: Matt. 4:4=Luke 4:4=Deut. 8:3; Lev. 26:12

Ask:  You have a heavenly parent who wants to be in a daily, personal relationship with you.   How can that nourish you in your life?

“Hallowed be thy name”

Focus:    name, holy, people

Read: Exodus 20,  Psalms 23, Isaiah 40:1-5; Jeremiah 31:31-35, Amos 5:21-24; Hosea 11:1-7; Deut. 5:1-4

Ask:  God’s name is holy, and you are part of God’s holy or separate people. How is it for you to be set apart in some ways from the rest of the world?  How does it feel to be part of a holy people that includes all other Christians in the world?

“Thy kingdom come”

Focus:  Christ, kingdom, church

Read:  Mark 1:14-15; Luke 7:18-23; Acts 2:1-8; Gal. 3:23-29; I Peter 2:11-12; I Cor. 13; I Cor. 15; Rev 13:10; Rev. 11:15; Rev. 21:1-4

Ask:  In Jesus Christ, God’s kingdom breaks into the world in a new way.  Where do you see signs of God’s kingdom in your world?  Where does Jesus need to break into your life? How does the church contribute to the kingdom’s coming?

“Thy will be done”
